What Cannot Go in a Bin

Some items cannot be accepted or may require special handling. Contact us before placing restricted materials in a bin.

Restricted Materials

  • Paint cans
  • Automotive batteries
  • Oil and chemicals
  • Car frames
  • Asbestos
  • Electronic waste
  • Vehicle tires
  • Food
  • Treated materials or wood unless specifically accepted as a non-mixed surcharge load
  • Contaminated soil
  • Hazardous materials

Rules can vary by material and facility requirements. If you are unsure, call 604-690-7325 before filling the bin.

Items That Need Extra Clarification

Treated or burnt wood may be accepted only as a non-mixed load with an applicable surcharge. Do not place treated materials, questionable wood, contaminated material, or hazardous items in the bin unless Peak Recycling has confirmed the load requirements.

Why Restrictions Matter

Restricted materials can create safety issues, environmental concerns, or separate handling needs. Clear communication before delivery helps avoid delays and extra handling.

Accepted Materials

For renovation waste, non-treated wood, drywall-only loads, roofing waste, household garbage, concrete, dirt, rock, and other accepted materials, review the accepted materials page.
